Hear from the people who make this place go round!
Chad Nierenhausen – Vice President, Software Development
I’ve worked at a few different healthcare companies in my career, each time hoping that the work that I did there would make a meaningfully positive impact on the lives of the people I served. At each of them I found that my efforts were making sure that hospitals or health systems spent as little as possible and denied care to as many as they could to protect their bottom line. Pyx is different, the work we do here has a very real and meaningful impact on the lives of our members. We frequently hear from our members how our services have helped them in amazing and tangible ways. There is no better feeling that knowing that the hours you spend in your day are making a difference for some of the most overlooked and underserved members of our communities.
Sammi Berwick – Senior Marketing Coordinator
Before I joined the Pyx team, I wasn’t aware that chronic loneliness is the equivalent of smoking 15 cigarettes a day for your health. That statistic was astonishing to me and helped me understand the gravity of it all. So much of what we do is to bring positivity to people who are experiencing loneliness. It’s especially needed for vulnerable populations who don’t always have access to care. Being able to write content as our chatbot, Pyxir, I love having the opportunity to add humor and levity to their day. It’s important that they always feel supported so I’m glad that Pyxir can be a friend who always encourages them to stay positive. We all deserve love and connection no matter who you are or what your background is – that’s why I love being a part of this team and our mission.
Rachael Jacobson – VP Business Development
Knowing that loneliness is an underlying crisis for our most vulnerable humans, I am incredibly humbled to have the opportunity to educate and share Pyx Health with those in the market who are poised to make a difference. This is a mental health crisis that we all need to continue to talk and raise awareness about and hopefully, we can help those who are most affected.
Milena Thompson – Chief of Staff
I didn’t realize how much social isolation and loneliness affected our members until I experienced both over the last couple of months. I also realized that loneliness and social isolation are preventable with the help of our app and I am honored to work for a company that has such an amazing mission!
Kendra Black – Compassionate Support Specialist
I am one of the voices of Andy. When a young lady who is homeless calls me asking if I know the suicide hotline number, I realize she is reaching out for help. She was reaching out to us when she is homeless sitting on the sidewalk crying and has no one in the world to call and she is done struggling with life. This is how she was feeling at that moment, and it was real, loneliness is painful. Every day I get to help people who need a friend to listen to them. It is especially meaningful when they have no one else to help share their burdens.
Christina Rice – Chief Operating Officer
What we do here at Pyx is hold space for people who are feeling lonely. As a new mom, I remember feeling so lonely right after my boys were born. I had family and friends around me physically but the journey in becoming a mom left me feeling alone.
I always love to hear how Pyx Health is helping new moms feel connected after bringing home their babies! I always wish that after I brought home the boys someone would have called me and told me about Pyx Health!
Sarah Moon – Member Success Associate
When I call people to tell them about Pyx Health I always begin with, “How are you feeling today?” I ask this because often in this world we ignore how others feel, thereby invalidating and ignoring potential loneliness. My question causes members to pause for a moment and go inward. More times than not that small pause puts a spotlight on something they need to share, and they answer me with their truth. It is in this dialogue where we connect. Members appreciate that I do not call and talk to them like a robot as that is what robots are for. I call them and talk to them as a human. By respecting our common humanness our individual humanity is honored, and it is in that space that I bring light to the lonely and love to all.
